This only applies to the Asia-pacific market right now, but they say there is more news on the way regarding a North American release.

https://jalopnik.com/the-2019-ford-raptor-ranger-is-your-diesel-off-road-per-1822794130

All new 2.0L Diesel that makes 210hp and 369ft-lbs.
10 speed auto trans
Coil spring rear with a Watts link
Fox shocks
Bunch of off road modes, etc

(whether the diesel would make it if the truck comes to North America is another discussion for another day)

It is a nice looking truck, the US market could use that for a higher end offroad truck to compete with the ZR-2 and TRD-Pro.

If it is as interchangeable as it looks I forsee that grille becoming a popular swap on new non-Raptor trucks.

I do wish they would come up with a different name. Ranger Raptor, Raptor Ranger... it sounds weird either way.

My credo
To each his own.
Surely if we get a Ranger Raptor it will not have that little diesel.

Hmm, park it next to a Tacoma I think they're the same truck just different ovals on the front. Ugg, what's with all the dull boring look alike vehicles being built in today's world.

They are more different than say a second gen Ranger, S-10 and Dakota of the same year... :D

They look somewhat similar in a picture, the Tacoma is much chunkier in real life and the Ranger is much sleeker. I saw both in person and didn't notice it until I got back to my hotel room and saw the internet buzzing about how much it looked like a Taco. In real life it doesn't so much. Ford has had that look for quite awhile actually, the Ranger has had it longer overseas than the Taco has here.

And actually the Raptor version so far is an overseas truck we are not getting as of right now.

Hopefully it comes here. Would destroy the ZR2.

Physics.

When the gubmint says "get your MPG up" and the engine tech can't advance that fast they have to start doing things in other areas, and so they start designing bodies that will be more aerodynamic, which is going to lead to a lot of similar looking vehicles.

Kinda sorta, more to do with cars than trucks. Having a squished hexagon grille with the headlights meeting at the top isn't really an efficiency thing.

I think Ford is wanting to go back to having a corporate look. Pretty much all of their cars and smaller SUV's look like the Ranger. Expy is on its own. Fullsize trucks look like they were all force fed the same harmonica.

Its not going to be available in the US as of yet, and may not ever be. Did some more digging and its being built, but not for the US market.

Considering the dismal lawnmower engine availability not sure why they'd bother calling a 4 cylinder truck a Raptor. Considering the size it should come from the factory with a V8 at a minimum. In the real world it will get the same fuel economy figures as the underpowered 4 cylinder engines they're trying to get away with.

Just to be clear, you're referring to the 2.3EB as an underpowered lawnmower engine?
