Hey all I'm not new to the site I've been a member for a lil while. I have a 87 V8 1/2 ton Ranger ive been building and i don't wanna tear it up. So my buddy and I decided to start building a crawler. It's gonna be on a Bll frame with a 89 single cab. Gonna build a flat bed and a partial exo.

The list of stuff I've already got:

2.9

Stock 5spd trans mits and fm145 as one breaks I'll swap it for the other.

Dual BW 1350 cases with a slip uoak eliminator. Haven't built the shifter for the rear case yet.

Front and rear Dana 44's with 4.88's Warn hubs, lockrite, high steer in the front with 1 ton ball joints.

Either a 3-link or 4-link in the front. It depends on cost and how tough it will be to set it up.

Detroit in the rear, full floating chromoly shafts with warn hub outers. Chebby leafs.

There's a few other things I can't think of right now and I'll add them to the list as I remember. If anybody has a idea or any advice for us it'll be greatly appreciated! I'll need all the info, advice, tips I can get for the front!

Thanks guys! I'm hopping to get home and start working on it by the end of the month. I'm in so cal fighting fires and every time we're on our way home we get diverted to a new fire. I'm really liking the Over time but I'm anxious to get home and start working on this rig!

Ok I'm about 95% sure I'm going with a 3-Link. I found this site: http://www.bsfab.net/?p=118
I'm planning on having a 0 degree approach angle and I know I'll have to have longer links than this guy made. Im planning on runnin 35's - 37's but to start off ill be running a set of 33"tsl's until i can afford new tires. Ill be using the 35's I have on my huntin rig to get my measurements then swap over to the 33's once ive got it set up. Tell me what you guys think as far as any pro's or con's you guys see to this set up!

It's been put on hold for a lil while. Between work, hunting and my dad having health issues the past month and a half I haven't had the desire to start on it yet. I'm still planning on doing it. It's just gonna a lil longer till I get started. I will be getting laid off in the next month or so. (It's no big deal I have a seasonal job so it's expected.) and I should have plenty of time to get started.

I would hate a seasonal job and to get laid off. My current job is a temp job but I can get highered on full time. They gave applications for full time on my orientation to my class and my class was the second one to get that.

Yeah it sucks but I didn't apply for the engineer's list. A engineer is basically the fire engine driver, operator. Well I didn't apply last year and they decided not to open the list again for new applicants until next year. So I've got one more year till I can promote that high. I can apply for a fire fighter 2 position which I am almost eligible for. So I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet.

Ok so this build got scrapped. I've acquired a 97 4wd, 4.0 5speed and a 2000 2wd 3.0 that was gutted and they started to SAS it with a leaf sprung D30. The 97 was wrecked and the pass front frame was bent.
So my plan is to swap the 97 cab, power train on to the 2000's frame then SAS it with a coil sprung HP D44, 9".

Low budget beater essentially.
