I've got a '97 ext cab 4wd 4.0
I've thrown a no.3 solenoid error, which I've cleared twice and it hasn't come back in a while.
Previously changed the valve body gasket after the first time and before that had dropped the pan and replaced the trans filter with a fluid top off.
After the first code, dropped the valve body and changed the gasket (was in good shape - 130,xxx miles). Topped off fluid again (Walmart Mercon V).
Starting to get some torque converter shudder and thinking about either changing the solenoids or just replacing the whole thing. (OPINIONS)???
Questioning if I replace it, what valve body is it and recommendations on a replacement?
I plan to remove the radiator cooler line and do a complete fluid change with motorcraft Mercon V fluid.
