Hey everybody, I posted this on B2corral as well; I have auto hubs but the "unicorn" bearing/spindle nut on my D28 broke so I am switching to manual hubs. My question is: can I use the manual locking guts inside my auto hubs until my manual hubs show up? What are the issues? full or no 4wd? let me know, thanks.

You an set the auto hub over the manual hub hardware, but IIRC it won't engage.

IMO it is kind of a shame the manual hubs don't fit over the auto hub bearing nuts. I have had fewer issues with those ones working lose.

Agreed, the auto hubs will hold the axle shaft in place so it won't rattle, but they won't engage when the axle turns without the engagement cam in place (that, or maybe they won't disengage, I'd have to play with one to know which it is).

Torque the outer manual hub locknut to 225 ft-lbs. It won't come loose.
