I have a 97 XLT extended cab with TTB DANA 35 if I remember right. But I absolutely hate the front end. I hear that the SOHC 4.0 is crap compared to the OHV and the IFS and the newer rear end is crap compared to the 97. Plus I really like my manual lockouts. What should I do? front 1k conversion or sell it for a 98 or newer? I am trying to get my cake and eat it too, I know we can't have it all on a low-cost basis.

I'm probably not the guy to answer this.... because I would keep the 97 for it's good qualities... and modify it to my liking. Then buy another one to park right beside my modified 97.

I have already swapped the truck to a manual when the auto kicked the bucket. Drove it for 6 months with no issues at all......The day after Christmas last year lost heat then compression..... well I sorta have it still. I cranked it a few times recently and she about started and the bottom end sounded like nothing happened at all so I'm going to tear the heads off and redo the top end as I can't afford to do the whole motor like I want. Any advice on this is welcome as well as reasons for keeping it. I have also added pop out windows rather than the fixed ones and it has Jaguar Power - leather seats in it..... no clue as to why but dang they are comfy.
