I don't have room to keep an Explorer here while I do a 5.0 swap. I want to move the Explorer in an out as quickly as possible. What parts should I remove before the Explorer goes off to become paperclips?

I just posted the exact thing on another forum!

I'm keeping the hood hinges, AC, gauge panel, wheels, seats/console for my Splash, and I'll sell the AWD trans and the rearend.

I'll watch this to see what I'm forgetting, too.

Lots of good Explorer 5.0 parts swap info in the TRS Tech Library:

The exact mix of parts will vary depending on the years of the Ex donor and the Ranger. Here is a good general parts list from RPS. IIRC, it was complied for a 99~01 Explorer 5.0 AWD into a 99 Ranger 4x4.

I can support this thread! I should probably dig up some of the older messages, but here is a very quick list:

1) Best to get a complete Explorer V8 wreck and start from there, if not, proceed to the following list

2) Complete explorer V8 engine with all accessories, engine driven fan, EEC, and wiring
3) Battery cable harness from explorer V8
4) Cruise cable from explorer V8
5) Throttle cable from explorer V8
6) Radiator from explorer V8
7) Radiator hoses from explorer V8
8) AC lines from explorer V8
9) Exhaust manifolds and Catalytic converters from explorer V8
10) transmission (and transfercase / output flange) from exlorer V8
11) Airbox, MAF, and Zip tube from explorer V8
12) Fan shroud from explorer V8
13) motor mounts:
If torsion bar front suspension - use explorer V8 parts
If coil spring front suspension - use 4.0L mounts and plates designed by BrainB31
14) swap out fuel pressure regulator in the tank with the regulator from explorer V8
15) have Ford Dealer re-program PATS to synch EEC, PATS module, and Keys.

I will modify this post / quick list in the near future. These were just some quick ramblings. There are many modifications that can be done, such as return vs returnless fuel syustems, etc.. We can touch on all of these.
