I picked up this '91 Ranger on Saturday for $500. The previous owner said it had a bad clutch slave cylinder so I trailered it home. It has a 2.3 and 5spd. No options has manual steering. Seems to run ok. I replaced the slave cylinder this weekend and seems to work now. I am planning on a doing v8 swap and lowering it.

Looks like a solid starter, I dig that brown crew cab too.

Must be tough not having to fix rust in addition to everything else. :icon_thumby:

Very nice find.

Yeah I just saw a pic of your truck with some rust! Yikes! Probably the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. :icon_thumby:

If it makes you feel any better I have you remove a bunch of tree sap all over the hood and cab:thefinger:

Anything but tree sap... :fie:

Once I replace the bed, cab corners, front fenders, DS floor pan and DS kickpanel it will be solid again :icon_thumby:

Sounds like a lot of work!

That is a good looking old
school Ranger, and for the price you got a good truck. A friend I knew back in 1990 when I was a junior in high school had a 1990 Ranger that same color, and it was bone stock. I have always love those older Ford crew cab trucks. Real shame they are not made like that anymore.
Thanks! Yeah it's a shame they aren't made so simple anymore

Looks like the Ranger has a blown headgasket. Not sure if I'll fix it or not.

Not hard to fix if that is all that is wrong.

Yeah it would be fairly easy. The previous owner left me a new timing belt kit too. I'm thinking I'll just do it this weekend. About $80 in gaskets and head bolts and I'll be good to go. I'm fairly certain it's a blown headgaslet. Runs kind of rough at times, smokes more than it should, and coolant is constantly being pushed into the reservoir.

now thats a good lookin ranger!
Thanks! I used to not them but now I love the looks!:icon_thumby:

Alright alright, now I really like it.
Yeah I like it:icon_thumby:

I think I found the problem! Went to put the socket on the bolt head and the damn head popped off. Didn't even try to loosen it.

Yeah a little far away.

I finished replacing the head gasket, head bolts, timing belt, and water pump. Seems to run great now. I finally have heat in the cab now! I've only got $200 into everything.

I only need to make it until mid next year until I tear it apart and start my v8 swap!:headbang: And I won't be using a 302...:icon_thumby:

I put right around $200 into it so
