c4 into a B2 4x4, please confirm my understanding...

as I understand it, my C5 transmission in my 1984 B2 with 4 wheel drive would be able to be combined with a "much tougher" C4 transmission. I would not need to buy a $500.00 adapter or such garbage. A car based bellhousing would fit better, as I understand this also. No wierd mounting issues, no hangups on the shifter, or such gotchas. I take a C4 and exchange the end housing and that mates ti the transfer case...

right?

I wouldn't say "Much tougher" when comparing a C4 to a C5 as in essence the only real reliability difference between a C4 and a C5 is that a C5 has a Locking torque converter, a C4 doesn't.

there are other component compatibility differences, but.... that is the long and the short of it in terms of differences
