My credo
Persist, kiss(keep it simple stupid)
89 2.9 4x4 auto has had new distib, computer, coil, and tps. Ran great for about 3kmiles suddenly would die. Obd1 indicated faulty tps (which had been replaced) so replaced again. Ran fine for about 1 tank of gas then would suddenly die. If I modulate the throttle quickly and keep the revs up I can make it a mile or so to a safe spot but with significant sputtering and some backfires. Sometimes after starting it runs perfect for a mile or two other times erratic from the start.CEL sometimes on then off. Any ideas would be helpful, thank you, your advice from past posts has always been helpful. I forgot to add when the engine stops and the key is on (Koeo) the relays are all clicking like crazy.

You have an electrical problem. Start by checking all the cable running to the battery, or between the engine and the body, and if no issues are found try adding a ground back to the battery. It can be something as simple as a jumper cable clipped between the alternator bracket and the battery neg post for now.

Also inspect the little wire from the B- going back into the harness. That little wire grounds the computer and it being back is enough to keep the engine from running.
