Okay so I finished my v8 swap on my 2000 Ranger 4x4. Swapped a 5.0 in for the 3.0 and used an m5r2 tranny.
First gear is unnecessary on the street, and in 5th I can accelerate up steep hills no problem, and with more power than the 3.0 could even downshifting to 3rd. With the 4.10s it turns pretty high rpms on the interstate and my mileage sucks driving over 70.
So I'm thinking swapping some 285 75r16's in place of my old 245's would be fine, and I probably wouldn't notice much of a power/mileage difference.
My truck should fit the 285s with a small torsion crank. Anyone have this same setup? Recommendations?
