Im aware my upper control arms need replacing but the issue is getting worse. My left tire skids at turnes and gives me a free falling feel. my ride quality has become a steady BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP even on the smooth roads in my subdivision(socialised housing:annoyed: ) I pulled he in the garage and looked at the assembly as my little brother turned the wheel I noticed that when fully turned that tire sits on the very inner edge(which is damn near bald even though the tires are maybe 10K miles old). I need a few more weeks. Im gonna be applying for an auto repair loan but I need a little bit more time. how dangerous is my truck right now. I gotta go to west phoenix for work tomorrow and parents are out of town visiting ill family. My silverado is not starting:annoyed:

The ball joints are screwed. its actually a lack of moving(dry) but they won't snap,......yet. basicly my front driver side tire is so unaligned and interior worn that its wobbling. This is all from my understanding of course. I have so much crap in the back of the truck for work tomorrow that the rear is almost sitting on the bumpstops. Im just gonna love the 2 hour ride to work in the morning :shok:

go to kregan or autozone and buy replacement upper control arms. they come with pre installed bushings and ball joints. u can get em for 70$ a piece or 110$ a piece for the better ones (moog). u could do the install urself in about 1-2 hours then take to alignment shop.

dont go spend money on parts you already have, get just the ball joints themselves you do not have to replace the entire arm if you dont want to, get the replacement ball joints press the old ones out and then press the new ones in, it took me a total of 40 minutes to do this including taking them off and re-installing them and it only cost me 40 bucks

Dry balls eh?
Dry balls end up grinding away and leave shavings, with no grease moisture can also build up and rust them away. My balls were bad on my car when I first got it, they were dry from sitting for months in a lot, after a few months of driving they became squeaky and when I took them out I could flick the balls around with no resistance at all. You could not feel the play when they were mounted, but in and out play on the socket was close to 1/8" when I pulled the balls.

So then of course I had to call my crew and wake them all up in the middle of the night I HATE PEOPLE!!Logic should tell people that if your gonna cancel call before 5! or at least before 9!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

They didnt even charge me for the rotation. I highly recommend Fletcher's Tire & Auto Service on Crismon Road here in Mesa.

I just went through the same thing with a newly purchased used Ranger Edge.
The previous owner siad there was "something woring" wrong with the front end on the passenger side. I paid so little for it that i wasn't worried. I took it in to the mechanic and it was the upper and lower ball joints. The tire was worn totally on one side and was thumping likecrazy. New upper and lowers and a set of brakes. I used motorcraft parts. The tire was rotated to the rear and thumped like crazy back there. I had to replace that tire.
Now she runs real smooth. Not cheap though.
