The tach will not work correctly. My understanding is that you can have it recalibrated to be used with a different number of cylinder, not sure what that entails to recalibrate it.

i tried going from a 88 2.9 cluster with a tach to a 88 2.9 without a tach, and the wiring harness was different and the plug that plugged in to the cluster was different. if those two didnt plug and play, then yours definetly isnt. you can probably make it work if you figure out which wires need the tach input, but then you have to deal with what the guy above me said, which is that you need to set the tachs for 4,6, or 8 cylinders. I doint even know how you would to that on a factory tach.

here is the hole that has a spot on the circut board behind the ribbon paper circtry. im hoping that this is the 4cylinder tach input hole that i can just soder a stud into and hook up. but does anyone have a 4cylinder tach out that can confirm this?
