My Ranger is an 88 S-Model short box with 2 wheel drive, an 89 Mustang 5.0, and a 5 speed T5 transmission. It was a carbureted 2.0 but now runs the donor car's fuel injection.

Besides the engine swap, it's almost stock with a 3.73 posi rear, but I've still managed a 13.9 @94 MPH on my quickest run and a 14.2@97 MPH for my fastest.

Besides the engine swap, one of the few mods I've made so far was to remove the driver's side bedside with a dual tank bedside and to replace the front fuel tank with a rear tank for better weight distribution and exhaust routing off of my long-tube headers.

I'm currently wrapping up a complete exhaust system project with an X-Pipe, dual electric cutouts, and dual Warlock mufflers (with removable caps). I'm having a lot of fun with it because I love to weld :icon_welder: It's my first mandrel bend project and so far I'm very happy with the results. I can't wait to hear it.

My next project will be to weld in a new wheel arch in an attempt to avoid replacing that $600+ passenger bedside. I haven't priced them in a long time so they're probably even more outrageously expensive now.

Later down the road I'm hoping to mini-tub the rear and completely replace the front I-beam suspension with a Mustang II based suspension kit from www.welderseries.com

sounds like a typical 5.0 truck....cost effective and fun as hell can be.

my best run was a 14.2 as well, but i have or had rather back in the 5.0 days a much heavier truck.

its ridiculously heavier now and much much slower.
