Ok so i Currently have a 93 Ford ranger 4.0 with Push Button 4x4 (electronic transfer case). And the 5th gear on my tranny went out. I just got a used tranny exact same one M50D R1 but it has the manual transfer case bolted on it.

My question is can i just switch them? Or what do i need to do? This is my first time removing and replacing a transmission and t case.

I prefer to Keep the Electronic push button. SO what do i need to do?

Any tips or tricks will help.

i know i need to seal the 3 rubber plugs and replace all gaskets. New clutch and what else should i do while the tranny is out???

Also The push button is not lighting up anymore. any ideas on that??

Cheers and Thanks alot

if you want to keep the push button then just bolt your old t-case up to the new transmission.

i highly reccomend installing the manual t-case however, as they are MUCH more reliable than the electric cases.

I guess my question is either way they both bolt right up with no mods??

they both bolt up.

the manual case will require you to install the shift linkage, floor plate (under the carpet), shift boots and plastic boot trim. this stuff all bolts right in (other than trimming the carpet some).

IF you REALLY don't want the manual T-case and you have the shifter
you will have no problem whatsoever finding someone to give it a
good home.
