hey, folks i have a hard time starting the ranger from time to time here is the problem...

put the key in and turn and it clicks then the buzzer starts to fade slowly when i bring the key back to the off position the buzzer gets stronger and the dome light gets brighter, so i go to the battery with a pair of pliers and turn the positive terminal just about a 1/4 turn and it suddenly powers up and starts, so i don't know if its the battery or ignition switch on the stearing colum , or the battery terminals are bad and need replacing i just don't want to change parts until it finnally fixed because i ran out of parts to replace ......please help.......:dunno:

Sounds like your battery terminals need to be replaced. Even if they dont its good insurance for a couple $$. My truck did the same thing with the buzzer and dome light fading, my guess is because the power slowly faded from the system due to the bad battery connection. Replaced terminals problem solved. Hope that helps.

Oh and just reread it, when you say after you turn the terminal and it powers and starts, you dont mean immediately do you? That would be a whole different can of worms...

Your terminal connection is crappy. Get a battery cleaning brush and clean up both sides. I just went through this with both my Ranger and Bronco II. Haven't had an issue with either since I cleaned the terminals. Just keep scrubbing until you see shiny metal.

Geeze you must have money to burn. Scrape the tarnish off the inside of the terminals before replacing.
