Simple mods to do on my new to me Ranger

It likely works because the synthetic gear oil is more expensive and Ford wouldn't spend money on anything that didn't make an improvement. I don't know how major a project you want to take on but you can make a noticeable difference with a gear ratio change. If you have 3.45's- a common 4 cylinder gear- swapping in a used rear with 3.73's or 4.10's will really help acceleration and you might be able to get Traction Lok in the bargain. All without engine mods. A suggestion: fresh spark plugs never hurt and it's better to replace the timing belt so you know how old it is, a 2.3 isn't an interference engine so it won't bend valves if the belt breaks but you'll still be stranded.

I got 3.73s from factory must suck to have a 4 banger with a 3.45.
