As most of you know, I bought the wife a sport-trac the beginning of December. She was up until then driving a 1999 Ranger.

I've been wanting a Ranger but wanted an older model, 4.0, extended cab. Her truck was a 3.0 Regular cab.

I have activly been trying to sell it with no avail. The truck is paid off. I hate to sell it for what people are wanting to give me for it. It is a GREAT truck in the snow, 2wd most of the time, and has no major issues.

I think I have convinced myself to keep it....at least for now. I planned on using the money I got for it to pay off at least half of the sport trac note.

The only concern I have is where I can park it. I only have a 2 car garage, and right now it is taking up half. That leaves me parking the B2 outside. Which is fine for now, I don't mind scraping ice, but come summer when I bring the ATV back, I will run out of room.

So should I sell it? Or keep it?

Well I know you got rid of the F250 so that leaves you with 3 vehicles. Your B2, the sport trac( wifes) and the ranger(just sitting around right?)

How reliable is the B2? Is it just a DD or is it lifted for wheeling?

If the B2 is reliable I would get rid of the ranger. If you are afraid of it breaking down because its a 20 year old truck, then I might still get rid of the ranger and get a cheap used import such as a honda or Kia. You can pick one up with high mileage for dirt cheap and they will run for a while. How much can you get for the ranger?

The B2 is my DD, however in the snow these last couple day's I've been driving the Ranger. The B2 has a habit of locking the front wheels when braking on slippery stuff.

I've lived without the Ranger up until she got the ST, and now it's just sitting there so I drive it some. Yes, the B2 is old, and it is nice having a backup for when it breaks, but is it necessary?

The most I've been offered is $4000, and that was over the net...

It's too nice a truck for that little, especially since it costs me nothing to own, I'm not just going to give it away.

Well just because you dont own anything, you still have to insure it and maintain it. 4k for a clean ranger is what I would expect. Despite being in great condition, the market for pickup trucks is so bad right now its a buyers market. Everyone is trying to offload extra vehicles right now because they are strapped for cash. If you it doesnt cost you much to insure, I would keep it. how much would 4k pay off the Explorer?

4k for a 99 ranger is awesome. My 2000 stang with only 84k on it books at around 3800 I believe. I would take the 4k

4k sounds about right...

I have seen 2000-2001 4.0 4x4's go for 5k.

Do you plan on lifting and wheeling the BII?

If not, I would sell it, I bet the 3.0 will be more reliable, it's worth more, and probably gets the same if not better mileage than the BII.

Or, you could sell the Ranger and lift the BII.

B2 is the DD, and I wouldn't even think of lifting it. The Ranger gets 14mpg, the B2 gets 21. I will never sell the B2, it's only worth 500 bucks!

I would gain nothing from sell it other than having one less vehicle. The Ranger costs $30 a month to insure, and getting 4K for it would pay off just under half of the ST loan.

I know, but it's always been shitty on gas, so the point is moot anymore.

i say keep it. i don't want to jinx you, but the b2 would probably take a crap right after you sold the ranger. a backup is a great thing to have. check with your insurance carrier, and see if there is a discount for a vehicle that is driven very little.

I agree, with it only costing $30/mo to insure, it probably would be the best thing to have a spare vehicle. That is weird that the 3.0 gets such bad mileage...

Funny thing... I convinced myself to keep it.

Then last night right before I left work, one of the guys who used to work there came through and asked if I had sold the truck. I said "Not yet...." but before I could get out I had decided to keep it he said he was interested.

I thought he was BS'n me, but he called me last night to ask to come see it. I told him I would drive it into work today for him to see. He stopped and took it for a drive and fell in love with it....it is a very nice running truck.

He is now trying to come up with the money to buy it from me.

I have mixed emotions... I would love to pay off the ST asap, and this would surely help, but on the other I will miss the little thing.

I will keep ya'll informed.

Dude, I'll give you $1200.00 for your B2 right now. It's worth more than that actually...but you know my wife...she'd kill me if I take any money out of the bank....
