Would like to see what everbody used for a latch system to hold the tire carrier when its closed. Pictures would be great. I got my bumper done but not sure of a latch something quick to open and easy. Was thinking maybe a bronco 2 carrier latch.

Made this one for my old ranger a long time ago! it would swing either way and lock itself in place with spring loaded latches. Simple and effective.

hope this helps ya. best thing to do to find more ideas is use the search tool. It's a great tool!

I used a common gate latch. Cheap & easy with slam-shut operation. Although I did have to add a couple springs to it so it wouldn't rattle or pop open (one keeping the latch closed, one pressing against the carrier when it's shut).

One of my buddies used a swing out tire carrier from a BII. He mounted the whole thing on his 97 Ranger and it looked really nice. It opened to access the tailgate and was not in the way. He used a cable that had the clear plastic cover on it to hold the carrier in place when opened, He was running 33 inch tires and the spare was a 33 inch as well. He just had to brace the area on the right side of the bed where the carrier mounted to it (he used the parts that came with the carrier since it was brand new in the box). It only cost him $80.00 for the carrier.
