My dad has always wanted a late 40’s early 50’s era Jeep. This past winter he bought a very compleat 50 CJ-3A that runs great. Before I head back to school in the fall I’m going to be busting my ass to restore the jeep that my dad has always wanted. The nice thing is I have a nice budget, he is buying all the parts.

The plan is to bring it back to off the assembly line shape. Bring it back to 6 volts and all that stuff. He has a new tub on order and all the parts to get the rolling frame done.

Here are some before pics.

And some taking it down

As of now the frame, complete disassembled front and rear axle, leaf springs and all cross members and such are at the sand blaster. The axle, suspension, and frame parts should be coming in the end of next week, as well as the stuff being done from the blasters. So until then its sand blasting all the small parts at the shop and priming them.

Also the rims and tires on it are for sale as he is getting original ones to put back on. 5x5.5 bolt pattern, 30x9.5R15 mud tires, brand new. Also all the sheet metal is for sale, Hood, Tub, Fenders, as he is getting all new.

Looks like a fun project. I had a 3B about a year and a half ago. I knew nothing about it when I bought it but they are pretty simple. Mine was not in as nice of shape as yours and someone had put the Dauntless 225 in it. Actually, my avatar pic is the engine on the one i used to have. Good luck! :icon_cheers:

My dad is in the process of restoring a 56 CJ 5. I was practically raised in the back of an old Jeep, riding the mntns & camping under the stars with the Jeep club he & his friends had. I only have good stories about the older Jeeps( when they were actually Jeeps).

Good luck helping your pops out, I commend you!! :icon_cheers:

Wow, nice Jeep. ( And I don't say that often ) My Grandpa is working on restoring an early 50's like yours. Not to Hijack but he's having trouble finding a gas tank, under the seat, for it down in FL. Where are you guys getting parts?
