1996 Ranger splash tach wire need help!!!

I have a 1996 ranger splash an I pulled the cluster back to find the black and yellow wire in the 8 pin connector and found that I have one 10 pin connector 1 12 pin connector and 1 16 pin connector and in the 10 pin connector I have 2 black and yellow wires so which 1 do I put in the 16 pin connector

Pull the bk/yel wire in pin 8 hole, install in pin 16 of the 16 pin connector...

What connector is the black and yellow wire in I have two black and yellow wires in one connector that has 10 pins in it

1996 Ranger tach help using a v8 cluster

I am using a V8 cluster does that matter or do i need to do anything different.

Clusters are the same, don't matter if its 4, 6, or 8...

1996 ranger splash tach help!!!

I switched the wires like you had said and it still seems like the tach is off its like it went from being a 4 cyl. tach to a 6 cyl. tach

With the wire in the original spot sets it for 6 cylinder, where you moved it to sets it for 8 cylinder, removing the wire from both spots sets it for 4 cylinder...

Still need tach help !!!!

I have removed the black/yellow wire from pin # 8 and placed it in pin 16 of the 16pin connector the tach still works but it is not accurate.Does anyone have any input or know what to try next.Does it matter that my orginal 4 cylcluster did not have a tach or not or is it because i am running coil pack set up just like the explorer I am running a 1996 explorer motor in a 1996 ranger splash that was a 4 cyl automatic. Any input would be great thanks .:icon_confused:
