so it is in fact an FJ 60 steering box. if anyone is doing the same swap as i am, i would recommend it, because i tried a 95 f250 box (the same box is found on all ford trucks from the 80s and 90s), a 90s chevy box, a 96 nissan frontier box, a 87 toyota p.u. box, and a 79 bronco box.

just find a fj60 steering box and your life will be much easier.

so i found out today that brake line flaring is not very hard at all... i just need to actually try. i totally halfassed the flares the first time because the clamp was not tight enough. so this time i made sure to get them clamped down as hard as possible. and after a complete re-do my brakes work!
in other news i noticed today when i went to test the new license plate lights i got that my tail lights do not work. my reverse lights, blinkers, and brake lights work, however my tail lights dont. wtf. does anyone have any suggestions about why this would happen. my friend suggested it might be because i took out the abs computer, but we agreed it may be far fetched.
if anyone knows of anything or any place with information on it please let me know!
Thanks!

Double check your body to frame grounds. Having the box off they get forgotten. With electrical start with the stupid simple stuff first, I always find myself punching my own head in from overlooking the obvious. Cool build sure it will never be done( always new toys to add on). :icon_welder: Keep wheelin and buildin!!:icon_cheers:

Your license plate lights might be grounded improperly. Had that problem a while back.

well i just drove my truck for the first time since april!!!

now i have a few more lights to add to the list of shit not working... none of my dash lights work...havent checked any fuses yet, and the grounds are good to the lights, but i dont have the 3rd member hooked up to anything since it came off the 8.8, so maybe thats messing with something. i dunno, thats tomorrows project...

well after the initial little spin i took, i went for a longer drive and not even 10min into it my truck died. i heard a loud high pitched noise coming from my engine and just figured it was ****ed. as it turns out, i just didnt hook up the power steering lines yet because i dont have them made yet. so that noise was my power steering box being fried because there was no fluid in it, which caused my engine to stall.
once again mighty ranger it dead in the driveway waiting for parts to come in. so hopefully next week i will have a new power steering box with lines hooked up...
and the waiting continues all because i was just a dumbass...
