i have a 91 ranger with a 2.3L. the truck has been sitting for about 2 years and i got it running today. but the problem is it wont start with out starting fluid but once its started it runs great like nothing is wrong. before i stored it i replaced the plugs and wires and got a used ignition control module from the junk yard because the old one was giving me problems and i drove it that way for a few mouth. so anyone have any ideas why it only starts with starting fluid?
thanks for the help!

I'd suggest fresh gas and a new fuel filter, to start with.

Have you tried priming it by turning the key to Run pause, Off. Repeat several times, then crank.

well i put about 5 gallons or more in it already and that did not help, i have not tried priming it yet i will try that tomorrow. the weird thing was when i first tried to start it, it started right up with no starting fluid then i shut it off and let it sit for about an half an hour to charge the battery. after that it would only start with starting fluid. as for the fuel filter i really dont want to touch it because it been a ny truck all its life and it has ALOT of rust on it.... but i might just have to bite the bullet on that one and change it.
