I have never had any of these but my sister has one that is said to be loose, after it was replaced with apparently a wrong part.
She is coming over this way tomorrow and I'm going to look it over and maybe try to find the right part.
Any suggestions on pointing a novice in CVs towards the nearest exit? :D

Front wheel drive cars usually have 4 CV joints, 2 on each front axle connected to the transaxle(transmission/differential)
(Ranger 4WD 1998 and up use CV joints on the front axles)

One side seen here: https://www.autorepairdirectory.co.za/images/uploads/CV Joints front.jpg

The outer CV joint allows front wheels to turn to steer the car, inner CV joint allows suspension to go up and down while transaxle stays bolted to the frame

Generally speaking you need to jack up one front wheel and try to roll the wheel forward and back to see if there is a clunk noise of worn/loose CV joint, like a worn/loose u-joint on a drive shaft
