Thanks RonD! I saw your earlier reply to JayLapp03ranger. Was just trying to round out the information I have. I don't have a keyfob so I may also pursue that later. Thanks again!Welcome to TRS
Any Locksmith shop can make a "Clone" of your current working PATS key
They "read" you current key's Transponder number, using an RFID tag reader/writer device
They then "write" that number to a new Blank PATS key
Then they cut the key, like any key, to match your lock
This is the most economical option for spare key(s)
This does not "count" as a different key to the PATS system, it sees both keys as the same key since they both have the same matching transponder number in PATS memory for your vehicle
Most Locksmiths can also cut new PATS keys to match your lock and then hook up a laptop with Ford software to your vehicle and ADD the new key(s) transponder numbers to your vehicles PATS memory
This also allows old, lost? keys to be erased from memory so only current keys, in your possession, can be used to start the engine
This can be a good thing if you don't know who may have a key, or you do know and don't want them to be able to "borrow" the vehicle at a future date
Key Fobs can also all be erased from Keyless Entry system(nothing to do with PATS)
Google: Ford Ranger add fobs
When you enter programming mode all Fobs are automatically erased from memory
Then you add back current and any new Fobs you have
