Gone. the PCM arrived today...... took 10 min to put the new PCM in and 20 min to fix the burned part of the wiring harness and it started... ran really good.

put it on Craigslist with out pics for $5000.... the add wasn't up for 10 min before somebody called on it.

Its gone....... sold for $4500. 94 GMC Crew Cab Dually with a 6.5 TD with 180,XXX miles.

I paid $500 plus a 4.56 factory geared FF GM 14b that I had (that was going to go into my 2500, paid $500 for that) plus around $500 for fuel to go to South Carolina with a barrowed trailer to pick it up. $125 for a used PCM.

so that $1625 I had tied up in it sold it for $4500..... now I will be able to buy a new digital camera (teffie broke mine by dropping it at the ComicCon in London this year) and keep my cell phone from being turned off...

Love it when you get deals like that, pays to know how to fix stuff others don't wanna mess with.

I got an 88 F150 for free, it wouldn't start... put a 50 dollar starter in it and sold it for 2800.

I do too, but I bought the Dually because I wanted a Diesel Crew cab Fat back. Needed the money from it more.... cept now I have to figure out how to fix the strut towers on the minivan..........

to tell the truth ...... I really really really miss my Suburban, I should have kept it and replaced the transmission ........ ofcourse now I have all the parts to swap a 6.5 Turbo Diesel into it.

Is that a Caravan? I noticed my sister's Caravan has agressive rust going on in the strut towers.

yep, if they are not too far gone do the fix right now, I waited too long and I need to replace the complete Strut tower.

you can get tower caps at the dealer for 97 - 2001 (gen 3) vans and the complete kit. I recommend using the epoxy and welding the caps in. cost about $140 a side.

Thanks for the tip. It's a '99 as a matter of fact.

Looks like the caps are about $20 each. You mean the welding is $140?

no the whole kit..... the caps, epoxy, and hardware kit. Chrysler quoted me $700 a side and thats half off the labor but I need complete new towers.

Alright, I'll try and get a look at the kit and see what's different from the $20 Dorman caps I saw on Ebay.

well with your skills you won't need the kit. but you will need the epoxy, its the key to the whole repair, the reason 1 in 4 Gen3 van have this problem is because the 2 layer strut tower wasn't welded and seam sealed from the factory. the epoxy makes it water tight as well has having glass beads in it that get the proper spacing. I read a post on a guy that welded in his caps, seam sealed it, and epoxy primered it, and painted it. his repair has been holding for 7 years and the problem has not returned.

the people with the best results just use the kit which btw is how chrysler makes the repair. the caps, epoxy, and hardware kit are all sold separately and the instructions are in the hardware kit......... although i would use the epoxy and spot weld instead of using the rivets in the kit.......
