Well I have been around here for quite a while, and all along i have been talking about swaping a 4.0 into my truck. I have an 86 ranger with a 2.3 in it. Anyone who has read any of my past post know that my 2.3 is well, an animal on its last stump. Well I finally have gotten enough money saved up to actually start the swap. Well a friend of mine has a 94 ranger with a 4.0 in it. The trucks frame is shot and the rear shakels and their mounts have gone to the great junk yard in the sky. He is wanting to sell it and contacted me about buying the motor. It has 200,000+ miles on it but it runs strong good oil presure, doesn't have any major leaks. how much would be a fair price for the motor and its accessories?

Oh and his truck is a manual and mine is an automatic (a brand new automatic, sometimes the crapy A4ld comes in handy) so will there be a problem with the computer trying to communicate with the transmission? I don't think the A4ld is electronic controled but I want to make sure before I get into a problem.

I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it.

I plan on doing a mild build on the motor anyways, port and polish, cam, headers... so I planed on going through the motor anyways.

Meh, the 4.0 I put in my B2 had 185K on it. I just replaced the intake manifold and valve cover gaskets before the swap, 5500 miles since the swap still on the same oil change hasn't used a drop, has 50 PSI oil pressure warm, and just passed emissions, people make too big of a deal about "high mileage". My Exploder had 220k on it when I sold it, it ran great too..
