I have Skyjacker drop brackets they came on the truck when i bought it. They are 4-6" ones. I put the brackets in the 4" holes with 6" Skyjacker XJ Coils I ended up with something like 7" of lift. My truck is a Single Cab Short bed 4.0 manual everything. The 6" skyjacker springs would not compress at all.

I do not have the money for custom steering yet, so I was aiming for 4" suspension lift with 3" bodylift. Trying to keep the steering level for better alignment. I also have the Extreme Drop pitman arm. Superlift Extended radius arms and superlift rear springs I pulled off a rolled truck.

I decided to order some Rubicon Express 4.5" lift springs for an XJ. These springs are perfect for a lighter truck. The do compress and give 4" of lift. These springs are right around 21" long with less coils than the skyjackers.

In the 4" holes my steering is very close to level by eye balling it. I may need to space my coil buckets out about an inch or so to help with spring bow. And now I need to redo my shock brackets after making them for the 6" springs. I was able to drive it around tonight in some alleys. The front end lifts up when I put it to the floor but it comes right back down with the Dual 5150 Bilstien shocks. Has quite a bit of front body roll.

Now I need a softer rear spring. I may take some springs out of the superlift pack or use some chevys. But the front is nice and flexy. Ignore the lugnuts on the steering I cant find the castle nuts and a chevy lug nut is the same thread pattern lol.

Leaky brake lines

Need to fix this. Do I reflare it or get another one of those blocks? I dropped the Caliper a few times. So I am sure I screwed something up.

Unless it's just the angle of the pic, it looks like you're at less than 4" lift with those springs.

Have you checked your ride height? (axle pivot bolt (D-side beam) should be about 1" higher off the ground than center of your wheel hubs). Also your toe alignment dialed in properly?

As for the brake line, if it's leaking from around the flared fitting, most likely you would need to reflare the line, yes.

I cant tell, but did you just hack the old shock mount off the coil bucket and not bother to plate it?

You should probably get longer brake hoses and mount them to the frame.

It looks like you could pull off running stock pivots or ideally High Rider brackets.

Yes I cut the shock mount off and no I have not plated the coil bucket yet. The coil bucket will eventually be tied into the shock brackets, when I have time to go buy some 1/4" plate. I don't have much time to work on it due to work. So I get about half a day a week. I do need new brake lines. I just put the calipers on it with the short ones so I could move the truck. It has been sitting for over 2 years now. Toe is not done. Needs alignment. I have quite a bit left to do before I get it to an alignment shop and buy tires.

I will measure the ride height soon and report back. I didn't even think of that. It got dark right after I put it together and I have no lights in the shop I use. I could probably put a 1 inch spacer under each spring and be fine. The skyjacker coils were just way to stiff for my truck. I have never done anything like this before. So i am still learning. I did take welding night classes for a year so I can weld just fine. Its just slow progress taking everything apart and putting it back together several times over.

Did you get Skyjacker pt# JC-60F XJ coils? I can't imagine them being too stiff for yours... I have them under my BII and they're just about ideal for it. My BII is probably at least 100lbs lighter up front than yours too. :icon_confused:

Not having set your toe alignment is also very likely to cause the suspension to sit at something other than it's settled ride height.
I would suggest at the very least getting a roll plate or some other means to assure there's no bind or tension occurring between your front wheels before you start making assumptions about the coils and the height they sit at.

See this page about 2/3 the way down:

Huh. I guess I missed that. Way to go for paying attention to the details I took for granted:icon_thumby:

Yea they are the JC-60f coils. I will work on it again this weekend. I can get something to make a roll plate out of I am sure. If I do not have to work this weekend.

Yeah post back on that, because I suspect you might've had some force between the tires acting on the height of your suspension.
To me it seems you should end up around 4.5-5" lift with those coils on your reg-cab Ranger (Mazda), which should be well within range of being able to align it.

Also, figure it'll drop another maybe ½" - 1" more once you put a bumper (and winch?) on there.

Two smooth flat steel plates with bearing grease between them could probably be substituted for the roll-plate as well, though a bit messier lol.

I work in the oil fields I am no stranger to a mess. I can buy some steel rods at tractor supply. And some think wood at home depot. Do i just drive on the roll plates or jack the tire a little and slide it under? It will have a winch and a bumper. Worked 18 hours yesterday and 14 today.

For anyone reading this superlift radius arms are crap. But they were dirt cheap never buy those things new. Before I knew about the stone crusher extensions I cut my stock arms as far back as they would line up with the super lift arms and welded them top and bottom. Hopefully they wont crack.

Probably be easiest to jack the tire and slide the plate under.

Superlift's arms seem pretty beefy to me EXCEPT at the axle mounting ears. It's fairly easy to beef them up by grinding off that little diamond-shape piece welded to them and then double-plating the ears with another piece of 3/16" plate steel (making the ears 3/8" total thickness).
