is the 7.5 rearend pretty reliable compaired to the d28? Just wondering bout that, plus they got up grade axle shafts too. that a wise investment compaired doing a 8.8? I dont want to go any bigger on my tires than 31's or 33's. however i do want to swap out the 28 for the 35.

If you don't go above 33s, the 7.5 is a pretty reliable axle. The 8.8 is far stronger though.

The weakest point of the 7.5 is usually the spider gears which can be taken care of by welding or a locker, it's a lot stouter than people give it credit for. Should be fine around 33s.

I agree, I'm going to be running a 7.5 out back. I'm only going to be running a 31" tire. You should be fine. Slap a lunchbox locker out back.

I've heard of people running 7.5's welded with 33's on mud race trucks.

28 spline 8.8's are kind of a "glorified" 7.5.

A 31 spline 8.8 is far stronger however.
