86 Ranger Door Hinge Pins and Bushings

I've used the search box but saw nothing. My drivers door needs new pins and bushings, but these bastages look permament. The top of the pin is peened out, How do you fellas replaces yours?

They are "permanent".... easy fix is to replace the whole hinge but it may be hard to find a good pair. Second option is to remove the hinge, grind off the top and remove the pin and replace it. Either way you will need to remove the fender for access to the bolts and to line up the door when you reinstall the hinges.

Like Shran said, just going the heads off. If the holes are worn, you will need to readjust the hinges for proper door alignment.

I did it on my F150 many years ago. I seem to recall that I sourced some kind of bushings. Drilled the holes bug enough for the bushings. Then installed them and used new hinge pins. I didn't need to realign after that. But it was a bunch of extra work. I used ball lock pins. So after that, I could remove my doors easily like the Jeep people do.

Eric that's actually brilliant! I can drop the doors and remove the pins and drill for the new pins and bushings and just those jeep style which are a friggin dream! Thanks for the idea!

I have half doors for my truck and just used some long 3/8 bolts instead of the pins, 10 minutes to go from full doors to half doors or no doors.

Quick tip for lining the door up before you remove anything: take a marker and draw a line around the hinge plate so that you can put it back exactly where it was.

that's another solution, but I don't want to simply have a non bushed pin so I can replace them when they wear out. Rather than having to go back in three years and weld the worn holes back then re-drill.
