Yes she has it was 2 years in September lol. Now it is time I start to look at a motor swap. Lol. Need some ideas/ pros and cons lol. I was really thinking of the 4bt swap but it is expensive. A 302 would be cheaper and I think easier and then the 4.0l but that doesn't sound like that much fun lol. Also I found a new fender in the junk yard to replace the driver side fender. Need to get that painted and the hood first.

No way a 5.0 would be easier than the 4.0. Only way it would be cheaper is if you already have the engine.

The 4.0 will drop right on your mounts, no muss, no fuss, no clocking. You have an A4LD already, so worst case you need a converter.

You need an engine harness and computer either way, so that isn't any money saved either way.

Get a 4.0, a 90-92 Ranger engine bay harness, or an Explorer harness through 94, including the fuel lines that go into the rail, send me the lines and I'll make them so they plug right into the existing stuff, then let me know when the engine is in, I'll come down and help you get the wiring re-pinned. It took me 3 days the first time. Should only take me 3 hours the second time.

Lol I can do Carbed 302 and I meant it would be Easyer and cheaper then the 4bt. Not to mention a 4.0 is going to run me $400 if not more and I would not keep the a4ld trans lol c4 or aod and I could get a 302 for a bout $100-150 since I know people and then would just need rebuilt. Not to mention I'm just not that interested in the 4.0l swap other than it is easy.

So after doing some more research there are not as many options for the 302 and the 4wd trans as I thought. And I looked more into the 4.0l swap but I have another 2.9l I am wondering how hard it would be to turbo it and rebuild it. And if that wouldn't net me the extra power I am looking for. Also I was going to swap the auto trans for a FM146 and 4.10 gears. All that combined might hopefully get me back to feeling like a stock truck lol.

If you are thinking at all about boosting a 2.9 make sure you have the 89TM heads, or the World Class if you can find a set.

2.9 heads are weak.

The 89TM heads? are they off of a spacific year 2.9l? I have a Couple of sets of heads at this point and I know a few are aftermarket replacemnts but im sure that they are not the World Class heads. I may just throw it together with what i got and see how long it lasts. The 1k miles a year it might see and at low boost may not even be enough to hurt anything.
