I got it, but what a pain in the ass. There is just no room.

I'm in the same situation. What did you do to get it out?

So I'm not the only one? deep well is too tall, regular socket doesn't reach the nut due to the bolt, and a hand wrench has no clearance to turn. so what is the trick?

My credo
Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.

What about using a thru hole socket wrench set?

Just a suggestion, or maybe a ratcheting hand wrench...

I have a Craftsman Cross-Force ratcheting wrench I use to break it free and then get my 18 socket on a swivel on it. The socket doesn't bit completely at first, but once the nut is loose it doesn't matter.

borrowed a different length deep well from a buddy, and got pretty easy access through the wheel well. would have been even easier if I had removed the tire but it wasn't so bad.
