Hey guys I got a quick dumb question, I want a dana 35 front axel so i have been looking for a 4.0(also want the 4.0 just cause it is the 4.0, more power lol) well I found a 1993 ranger 3.0 5 speed 4x4 standard cab short bed... i won't have a chance to go look at it or test drive it for two weeks, and I want to know if that would come with the 35 or the 28 on the front? Does any body know what the chances are of it having which axel? thanks for your time and any info.

Could be either the D35, or the D28/35 hybrid axle (though the D35 seems a little more probable on a 3.0L stick). However the only way to know for sure is to go look at it (or get someone to send you pics of the aluminum member on it, then compare it to what's in the Tech library).

I think it is a 35, I have the exact same truck only a longbox, and mine I believe has a D35.

on a 1993 Non-4.0 truck it depends entirely on axle ratio.

If it's 3.45 or 4.10 it's certain;ly a "hybtred" (aka the phony D35 that Ford and dana call the "dana 28", but which is distinct from the earlier D28.

If the axle ratio os 3.73 then yoiu have a "true" D35.
