Looking really slick!

Great job on that engine. I love seeing someone doing things correctly; media blasting and repainting.
Thanks!! I always wanted to do something like a resto mod type build, the mod being the suspension. long travel is in the future. engine bay will be getting the same treatment, as well as the engine harness's. The more i think about it, i have a son on the way, due in august. This would be a killer first vehicle for him. After i enjoy it first of course.

Going to clean up the engine bay today after work, I need some opinions on whether to paint the bay flat black or keep it blue. What do you guys think?

I say paint it black. When I had my 3.0 rebuilt earlier this year. I looked at my engine compartment and it needed a paint job. I painted my whole engine bay semi gloss black. Looks alot better. Looking forward to your progress and the final assembly on this. You should leave the b2300 fender emblems on there. Make it seem different from what others will think what's in there.

Did you get the mass air flow sensor and top air filter lid when you bought the 4.0? The 2.3 sensor and air box lid is different then the 4.0.
painting it is what i'm leaning towards, once i get it cleaned up i will think about it more. I planned on keeping the b2300 emblems, about the only chrome on it and it just the right amount.

And yes, i got the MAF and airbox with intake tube from the donor. Guy was really cool, he's into rangers and after we got to talking, he said i can have whatever i want from what was left of the ranger.

Think I might just leave it and not paint it. What do you guys think?

Edit: added a better picture.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
That engine bay cleaned up nicely. Looks like everything is going well. [emoji106]

It's going smooth so far. Especially doing it all by myself. Next on the list is to crack open the trans and see how it looks inside, then clean her up and paint, then install. i'm going to put all new accessories, trying to find a saginaw PS pump but thats proving to be harder then it used to be.

Something doesn't seem right there.... I'm excited to see how you do the swap. The other guys thread had photobucket images that don't display anymore.

Gears are a lot quieter after you remove all those annoying teeth. Finish the tooth removal and you will have a stealth transmission.

I'll see if i remember to take photos and somewhat documentation, I always come across people who do a write up, but the pictures are either not available or the write up is very brief.

I didn't do much of a write-up, but I do have a bunch of pictures in my thread on my hybrid M5OD.

If you can't find a saginaw pump you could attempt the electric power steering setup that I did. :icon_thumby:
