I have a 94 ranger stx 4.0L AT. i bought this with the 4x4 not working, i cleaned the plug under the truck on the tcase and it worked for 2 days then quit again, ive checked fuses, replaced the switch in the dash. The 4x4 light on switch and dash say it is on and will not go away, i have had it on a lift and 4x4 is not engaged. Any help? I am trying to find a friends garage to take the shift motor apart to clean it and make sure its working right, if anyone has had this problem please let me know what happened. i was thinking maybe if not the motor, the shift module behind the jump seat???

Should have replaced the motor first thing, as that is probably your issue.

you dont needa garage to remove the shift motor. get under tehre with I believe a half inch wrench. Theres 3 bolts holding the motor into the t-case. The motor slides out of the t-case, put it on your kithcen table on some paper towel and start unscrewin things. Go to the tech library for the rest of the writeup. This should 100% eliminate your shifting issues.
