Hello TRS, glad to be back after a few turns on the roller coaster we call life. I have recently gotten back to being an observer and after much research, I cannot find the answer to my particular question. Please help me if you can.

I have a 94 ranger that was originally a 2wd with the A4LD automatic. I eventually converted to manual with the M5OD-R1 and naively picked up and installed a mechanical BW1350 TCase with the slip yoke. Now when I go to get a front shaft made I'm told with my lift, it can't be made and I need a front yoke. Never even thought about it.

I'm currently looking for a mechanical 1354 and noticed with manual trucks, the speedometer cable location for my year is located on the t-case. So will a BW1354 from a 02-03 Level 2 be able to work with my stock speedometer cable location? Or how would that work? I know the speedometer cable VSS went out in 95 I believe. I would rather keep the stock cluster so I just need to know If I find one will it work or and I stuck to 90-95 ranger and 91-95 explorers.

Thanks so much for you time.

In 1995 Rangers switched to electronic speedo and VSS only, but the transfer case still used the speedo drive gear setup to turn the VSS until 1997, in 1998 VSS was added/moved to rear axle.
So up to 1997 should work fine, adds a couple more years to the "pool".

As a last resort you could use an ECD-100 with a newer transfer case if it had a speed sensor, but $300.
It is an electric motor that drives a speedometer cable, but steep price tag, mostly used for classic cars where changing the dash isn't even an option.
