thought I had a water pump going bad.....replaced water pump and timing chain. after getting her all back together still have a squeal (replaced tensioner, chain, water pump,....about a year ago replaced the alternator.
Question: could the cam synchronizer be the culprit?

also the engine "hunts" (idle is up and down - not steady and smooth).

when I try to turn the steering wheel (the engine drags down) could I have missed a tooth on the timing chain and if so,
Question: Do I have to open it back up?

Will check back in the morn

Thanks!

thought if you missed a tooth the engine iether wouldn't run or would run horribly on efi rigs. The idle hunt is most likely a dirty or bad maf sensor. Clean it up or buy a new one. Did you try belt squeel stuff? Some engines have a belt squeel no matter what. You could just have a worn out pump. Or really big tires?
