Yup, that settles it. My axle is going back together with a spool.

How's it been treating you as a DD...?

So far so good. Been putting on about 100-200 miles a week. I really like the 37s better on the road and they handle so much better than the swampers. Havent had a chance to try them off road yet. Loved the look of the swampers but these are growing on me.
Having the front locked really makes a differnce, but it does make it hard to steer sometimes. But the trade off in traction is well worth it.

Nice.

I know that. Hopefully your hubs are unlocked. I meant the truck as a whole.

Well about a month ago my rear pinion seal was leaking so i changed it out. About a week ago it started leaking again as well as the hub seal. With everything going on lately i thought i was just my luck. So to day i tore everything down and replaced both seal and toped the rear fluids off. Took it for a test drive and got back to check the fluids again and the rear cover was really hot where u could hardly touch it and when taking the plug out their was alot of pressure coming out. So i checked my vent tube and found my culprit! The steel tube going into tbe axle was plugged solid! So next time anyone has problems with seals check your vent tubes!!

Looks like a good time. It's just a rocker panel, it was bound to happen at some point. I just cut mine off cause it got so messed up.

Well got to go over the truck the other day from the last wheeling trip, looks like i also twisted my pitman arm and my rear frame is bent. The top of the box is about to hit the cab and the bottom as a pretty good size gap. I can also see the stress marks where the frame bent, it right where the shock mounts are riveted to the frame. Havent decided what to do next, either make a truggy out of her or cut off the frame before the bends and redo the frame.

Fuel tank in the front of the bed, 4 link, airshocks, then chop it at the bent part.

Yikes. Thats not good. I'd like to see you keep it as a truck. It has a mean stance and out here truggys aren't street legal lol.

Could you get a good donor frame, box and strengthen it and the move the parts over? Or find a clever way to mate 2 frame well? Or have a frame shop straitened it and then you strengthen it?

What do you think was the main cause for the extra stress on the frame? Concerned because I'm supposed to finally take my truck out for my birthday. I'm getting ready to install the 63's. That means I'll have my bed off so maybe I'll do some boxing of the frame.

If its not too much work to fix then I would fix it. At the same time though, it would be cool to just cut it behind the cab and tube it. I want to do it to mine eventually and keep the bed skirts. I like the look with the bed on it.

Those short and stiff leaf springs surely don't help matters.

Take the bed off, strip the suspension. Block or jackstands under the bends. Chain the front to the ground. And with a comealong on each frame rail, over pull it and release, checking bed fitment often. Once your satisfied, box the frame and roll on with your spring swap.

That would require drilling and pounding some if those threaded inserts into a concrete floor. Dunno what they are called, but we use them often when building drag cars.
