As I was driving home today out of the blue my check engine light came on, about a minute later the ABS light came on in addition. I locked up my brakes on some snow and sure enough no anti-lock. Once I got back i turned off the truck and restarted it, after that the ABS light turned off and that works again, though the check engine light remains. I am curious if these to are related to one another? And if so any guesses on the cause?

I am planning on getting the codes read tomorrow or Wed.

Thanks!

doubtful that they are related. ABS was probably a sticky relay.

Let us know what the codes are for the CEL and we will point you in the right direction.

I get an ABS light also, every now and again. But Im guessing theres air in the line cause I recently did some brake work and havent been able to properly bleed all the lines. Another thing to check is the brake fluid level.

OK the ABS is no longer an issue. I pulled the code and I am getting a P0176 code, which according to my Chiltons guide is a Flexible Fuel sensor circuit malfunction. I think I have been getting much worse gas mileage lately too, but it's been cold and I have been using 4x4 lately as well so I can't be sure. I reset the code and havent driven it since.

Any ideas what my next step should be?

well, if you don't use anything above E-10, just get a signal emulator. Those sensors aren't the most reliable pieces of junk Ford ever put on the vehicles.

By signal emulator are you talking about something that just sends the same signal no matter what? And no I will never use above E10.

and i did let it idle for a couple minutes and it has not thrown the code again

Thanks!
