Okay, I collected the PM's from everyone here and have tried to accomodate the majority of both scheduling issues and location issues. However, not everyone will be happy nor able to attend this year, however, there is no worries. This will be an annual event sponsored by this forum and the location and venue will change every year. We may do this twice a year, but for now we are going to start small.

Now here is the plans I have organized and details I have worked out. There are benefits and dissadvantages to every choice, but this one seems the most doable for a first trip. And as you read on, you will see why.

The dates that seems to work for the majority of the members for this year seem to be either July 24th, 25th and 26th. This is a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The location will be the Mountainside Off-road Park located in Gadsden, Alabama. They have agreed to rent the ENTIRE park and facility to us for the whole weekend. So basically, it will be just us in the park. Therefore our responsibilities will be higher to keep the park clean and members behavior in check. Since I am organizing this and paying for this, this puts me personally in charge. I would like this to be an annual thing remember, so we need to respect the facility.

Once we arrive and sign in, the park is ours, the owners will not be there full time. However, we are still required to follow all the rules of the park, which I will get to later. They do NOT have a garage or repair facilities, however they did assure me that within less then a few miles there are several parts stores and we are free to work on our trucks should be break them, on site.

Camping is also included in the price(which I will get to) for both nights. Again, our responsibility to pick up behind ourselves.... remember, pack in, pack out. Also, since this is OUR show, and OUR gig, I have also gotten persmission to allow those members under 18 to drive their rigs in the park, provided they have proof of insurance. There is a waiver that needs filled out by every member before the arrival, however, I will post more up on that later as I am in need of some more answers.

In return of the lower cost for renting the whole site, they simply ask we spread the word about their park too. This facility is realtively new, being only a year old. So trails are fresh too. As they grow, they have offered for us to grow with them.

Stock trucks are more then allowed..... and trails requiring special equipment are marked so that dangers can be avoided. Okay so lets get to the fun stuff.

Here is the park map showing all the trails. The black ones are designed for stock trucks. The blue ones are a little more difficult and the reds are the most. As you can see, there are more black then anything, so for a first year run, this was another advantage and good selling point for me.

As you surf their site, you will see a tab for the waiver that needs to be signed. PLEASE, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THAT YET. I am working out a method for all of us to take care of this and will post back when I have it. I do not think all of us should individually fax this back to them due to the confusion it may lead to, so I may have all of you copy and paste to a word document, print it, sign it, then fax it to me. Kinkos, staples, office max and such have access to a fax machine for this if you do not have one. But let me finishe getting the clarification on this before we move forward with that.

Here are some of the pics from the photo page for an idea of what the terrain is like. Pics kinda suck, and ours will be loads better! But this will also give and idea of what were facing.... photos are found here

Okay, we have covered the majority of the deatils. Lets talk the rest.

Cost and terms:

The cost to rent the whole park is not cheap, but I think can be devided comfortably. For each TRUCK going, NOT PERSON, but TRUCK going, the cost is $40.00 each. If you are attending but not driving, emaning not bringing a vehicle, the cost is $25.00. So if you are taking your truck, and wheelin your truck, the cost if 40, regardless of it you are alone, or have six people in your truck. If you are getting dropped off, or driving there, but not wheelin, it is 25 per person. So you and five people ride together, it is 25 per person going.... does this make sense? I set it this way purposly to encourage the wheelin, not the spectating... know what i mean? For every four trucks, we should have at least one spotter. The number of camera men is up to the group. I will have one maybe two at least for the group, and I think i remember a few people mentioning this as well.

What you neeed:

Everyone is responsible for their own trucks, travel expenses incurred on the trip and your own camping gear. If you prefer to stay at a local motel(several are located within 2miles of gate) those costs are also on you. The forum will provide the majority of the food for the group and all drinks.(NON-ALCOHOLIC). Each truck that is wheelin is required to have a spare tire, jack and at least one recovery point on each end. I will have the needed chains and tow straps and tools for a rescue. If you have more equipment then listed, BRING IT, but no sweat if you don't. Bathroom facilities in the park and camping areas currently do NOT have a heated water shower, HOWEVER, they are working on this and it may be up and running by this summer. IF THIS IS THE CASE, They plan to add a cost of $5.00 per person, but I am trying to get this waived, so no worries. But good news is, they do have restroom facilities...LOL...

The activities:

The obsticles in the aprk include, but are not limited to....

Mud pits
Trails
Rock gardens
Mild and major hill climbs

Each day of the weekend we will focus on a particular section and setup challenges and video shots. Basically your best Kodak moments. Once the event is over we will also have a vote on trucks, obsticles and overall experiences. We will also have campfire activites.

Who can go:

This trip is open to EVERYONE. Members here or other forums. Friends, family and more. If you know anyone interested in attending, same admission rules apply. You can bring your significant others and children if you dare, though I reccomend not having anyone under the age of 15 in the park with us since the welfare of all attendies is on MY shoulders. Please have anyone interested in going who is not a member of this forum contact me personally via email at junior3382@hotmail.com or call me at (717) 492 - 4259. My legal name is Joshua for the record if they call.

As far as bringing anything above and beyond what is already mentioned, please contact me and let me know. I will personally more then likely, have a trailer with me. So should there be a major wreckage, I will be able to haul someones truck home for them. If I do not bring one, does not mean I cannot get one. if that makes sense.

If this is all agreeable and doable then lets start getting a head count now. the address of the park is

Mountainside ORV park
9971 Lay srings road
Gadsden, Alabama 35904

According to the latest report, gasoline prices are expected to be in the ball park of about $3.50 to $3.90 by July. joe and I are probably the furthest members from this park planning on attending. Estimated time for us to arrive is about 11 hours, and total gas is estimated at 340 per truck round trip. Add my 40 bucks for cost of entry, and my cost is about 400 dollars for this trip. This will give you an idea of where the cost will fall with everything. Most members further south will spend less on gasoline, therefore their cost will be less.

If you need special assitance getting yourself or your truck to the park, please let me know. Like I said, I can get a trailer and have no problem picking someone up.

Did I miss anything? I am not sure, but this is what I have been working on for the last few weeks. If you have any other questions please send me a PM so I am sure to get it and I will answer all to the best of my ability. So Lets look forward to this event with total excitement and help me help turn this simple forum into an organization recognized nationwide!
