I got the brakes done. I used brake lines; Raybestos: BH 38622, BH 38623, as in this article;http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/ReplacementBrakeLine_Front.html. I pried off the metal clip that are half way down the line by using a vise and a large flat screwdriver. I also replaced the brake line between the two sides with a pre-made 60" line connector piece. The drivers side you have to get a 3 hole junction block and a 8" pre-made line to replace the drivers side line that has the hole for the 60" line connector.
Pics later.
Got the fuel cell installed, still need to plumb.
Got the battery moved to the back passenger side rear. Built a battery tray that will accept a marine battery box and used jumper cables that I bought at a yard sale for C$25.00. The cables are heavy duty 2/0 gauge. Ran a line from the battery to the 'emergency' disconnect mounted by drivers door. From there I ran to the fender well solenoid.I cut off the original battery end from the starter and soldered a lug on to connect to the solenoid.
Pics later.
My friend Rob came by, so I put him to work. I got him to sand and primer the cage outside the cab. I wonder if he'll drop by again???
Later,
Richard

Got the fuel lines and pumps and filters hooked up....... and it works:yahoo::icon_bounceblue::icon_cheers:
Got the battery cables tied up and the master disconnect hooked up.
Exhaust is hooked up, no change in volume:annoyed: One bolt on the drivers side exhaust manifold is broken.
Probably 40 hours of work in since last I posted time worked, and more money than I wanted to spend, spent.
I'll give totals later.
Richard

did you use hydrolic hose for fuel line?
No, I didn't. By using all stock ford stuff I was able to not have to buy high pressure hose. I did have to buy an extra gas filter to use as a male to male adapter. I priced hydraulic hose at Princess Auto @ C$1.79 a foot, High pressure gas line at Autovalue was C$.89 an INCH!!! Two people said that hydraulic hose was good to go with, I'd use it.
Well, if I get the truck finished by tomorrow morning, I'm off to the races:yahoo:. I have to mount the seat, mount the safety harnesses, and mount the window net. And fenders, and hood, and cut the box apart so I can mount the sides. And wash the truck..... It hasn't seen soap in at least 10 years:shok:
Wish me luck,:icon_rofl:

This was a weekend of firsts;
first time to the track with the truck,
trucks first time in a race, with NO test or tune,
my first time in a race, with NO test or tune
first breakdown, minor heater hose problem,
first breakdown fixed, with help from other racers,
came first in class,
gave first autograph.
All in all, a GREAT weekend:yahoo::icon_bounceblue:. I'll fill in a few details after work.

Congrats on winning dude!

put some fenders on her and make her look more stock/racer style =D wouldn't add too much weight if you do it right!

Maybe the front end too =) could use some detail.

Congrads on the win Richard! I'm sure just having the truck at the race and being able to run it was a win anyways. I'm soooo looking forward to the near future when I'm able to do the same. And by that I do not mean race my ranger on a dirt track! Haha

So I'll start with the build;
Brake lines,
I used the ones suggested in this article http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/ReplacementBrakeLine_Front.html.

I removed the metal piece in the center.
One of my tires ate through the passenger side line Saturday just as I was going to line up for the last race of the day:sad:. I went to town and found a f-150 line, a bit shorter, that works with some tweaking. Also added a spring to keep the line away from the tire.
The line that got ate,

Fuel cell,
After a LOT of thinking and testing and more thinking and testing I finally figured out the fuel cell. I bought a low pressure pump and used an in frame high pressure pump from an '88 f-150. If anyone wants details I'll write it up later.

Also relocated the battery to the back as I installed a master kill switch

For any one doing this, you must run the alternator output directly to battery or your engine will keep running as your alternator feeds the ignition system. more later,
Richard
