Went and looked at this truck today, body is made by Reading and is all aluminum. It looks like it was made for the ranger, truck would have been a long bed. I've never seen one before.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
That's cool, and it's a new one on me.

At first glance, with that color, sliding door and angled front, I thought it was a repurposed upside-down dumpster.

Never seen one.

Ive seen ones with regular open style utility boxes....but never nothing like that.

Probably started life as a cab/chassis truck

... you bought it right?

Right!?
It was one of those, it's my buddy's truck and just go look at it and if youre interested ill give you his number deals, I have his number and will be calling later today, haha. As long as the price isn't insane I'll likely buy it and take it home.

Awesome box. Would be great for my construction biz.
The truck its on isnt super great, its been sitting for 26 years or so, the transmission fluid looks like motor oil and is quite burnt so I'm thinking I will pull the body off and part the ranger out, then put the body on a trailer frame I have and use it as a really tiny and light teardrop style camper as the floor inside is completely flat

That's cool, and it's a new one on me.

Haha, that's a good way to look at it, it's all aluminum and all of the doors swing, no sliders.

If it was an open utility bed it would have been at my house already. it's a weird one to me. I was under the impression that all of the chassis cab trucks were 8.8 equipped, this one has a 7.5 in it (but it's also a 4x4 so maybe that's the reason?)

I've seen utility beds and flat beds before but this one is a first.

It really is, the plan is to remove the box from the truck and put it on another ranger frame that I've already made into a trailer and turn it into a really tiny off road ish mad max style camper, and yes, I'll yank the rack off too. It will be a long term project that I'll document as it's sort of ranger related.

It is indeed, I said the same thing to myself when I stuck my head under the back and noticed the factory blocks.

I'm not sure if they did either but it doesn't look like it. It's also got a quite substantial set of overloads on it too.

It's a very late production first gen manufactured 7/88 its got a 2.9 backed by an a4ld with a manual transfer case and d28/7.5 combo with 3.73 gears and no limited slip. It appears to also have had dealer installed air conditioning which has since been removed.

Keep your mind like an umbrella, it only works if its open... Continually learning.
That is cool as hell. It does seem to sit high on the frame though IMO.

It sits pretty close, it's just how they had to do it to keep the floor flat I'd assume. I really like the box too, it's just weird enough to be neat too.
