I am looking to make a drag link and the word is these are the way to go. When I google 1 ton chev tre's I get 2 different pics. 1 is threaded right up to the joint and the other has a longer neck on it. I have the ones that are longer neck on the to the thread that would be in the tubing to the steering box.The real problem is that they seem to have different thread. Any body that has made one of these drag links... What thread are they?

Did you buy weld in bungs? Or are you trying to thread 1 ton TREs into your Ranger linkage?

Pictures would better explain what your trying to do.

I am trying to decide what parts to use. According to the link above the part number es2064l are the ones to use... correct? That is the thicker thread and slightly longer thread and assume the stronger of the lot. I have to ream my tie rod and pitman arm anyway so that is not a consideration.

+1 I was slightly frustrated because BillaVista's Steering Tech article lists the part numbers for the 3/4 ton TRE's but he calls them 1 ton.
That's good to know

I bought the TRUE 1 ton TRE's and THEN found out that there are no weld in bungs available. So I went with the 3/4 ton ones. They're more than enough for most people.

When I asked at the local Napa they said 3/4 and 1 ton were the same part number. The ones they gave me have es2836 on them. They look like the es2026R in the link. The es2064L appear to be stronger as they are threaded up to the joint and they have 1" thread as opposed to the 7/8".

I figured it out... I think. The es2234r chev tre and the es2010l, I think its a dodge tre, are the same expect the tie rod thread on the dodge is shorter and left handed....... I think.

Look at the link I posted. It tells you EXACTLY what you need to know including thread size/pitch, taper of the t.r.e., lengths, etc. Completely eliminates the guess work..

Thanks for the help. I did look at that but when I went on the Napa site it gave the specs too and they matched.
