I am going to have my front axle rebuilt due to a stripped gear. I* have a 96 with 4.0 and run 31" maxxis mudders. I thought about have a detroit locker put in when I have it rebuilt. Is this a bad Idea for the front axle? Should I just go with a stock rebuild ?

depends on what you will be using the truck for, but in all reality if u dont plan on goin any bigger then 31's then id put a locker up front, the d35 should hold strong with 31's and a locker all day long. if u plan on going bigger later on u might hold off as the extra stress on the axles from a locked front diff with heavy tires could cause alot of breakage
