I am currantly working on putting a 300I6 in my B2. My question is what axles would hold up best for the best price. I know that the D28 and 7.5 that are in it now are going to explode as soon as I put the skinny pedal to the floorr.

Assuming you aren't looking to go too crazy with your tire size, I suspect the D35 and 8.8" from an Explorer are gonna be your best bang for the buck (and by far easiest to swap too). The D35 almost matches the strength of the D44 that engine was probably paired with if you throw a set of the Jeep hubs on it. The Ex 8.8" is all the same beef as a fullsize F-150 8.8, just narrower.

How are you fitting the 300I6 in there? That's a pretty long motor for a RBV... Got any pics?

Anything that the 300 would have and up should do you just fine. I would say EB D44 or FW D44 TTB/SAS and 9 inch rear, or a 31 spline 8.8 exploder axle may do too but it is at narrow width so a full size 8.8 unless you narrow the FW front axle you put in it.

A D35 could potentally hold up to it too and that could be an easier rought also.

But one big question....what do you plan on doing with your BII?

EDIT: he beat me too it but does point out some good stuff too.

I don't have it in yet but plan on a 3" body lift, roll cageand mount the rad in the rear to make things a little easier. Still getting parts together. I bought the engine with a 3speed tranny. I'm researching if I can use this tranny for 4x4 but there just isn't alot of info out there and havnt had time to go to the pulla part to see for myself
I'll take lots of pics when I get this mandingo I6 put in.

IIRC, the 300 has the same bolt pattern as the 302, so any tranny that fits on the 302 should fit on the 300. All I can say is take the 3 speed tailhousing off and look at the bolt pattern and go from there.

With a several hundred dollar adaptor... sure. Not worth it to me.

I would just poke a D35 and 31 spline 8.8 in it for axles if you won't go nuts on tire size.

I have been pummelling my 7.5 for 6 months so far with a 302 and 31's and it hasn't complained yet, according to common lore I was lucky just to get it out of the shop after the swap. :dunno:

Here is a guy that asked a similar question:
