Picked out the colours for the engine. Grey on the engine block, corporate blue on the valves covers, oil pan and timing cover.

Things got done tonight crew. Ben was in charge of photos so he'll have some more with in depth descriptions. Consider mine a teaser of sorts.

Scoop mocked up. Really digging it.

Ben prepping the timing cover for paint. Safety first.

And paint going on, GM corporate blue.

Did some stuff tonight. New tools in the shop for future endeavours, and a real garbage can for the first time ever.

Mike "refreshed" the engine with compressed air, and we "cleaned" the oil pan with some certified brake cleaner.

We also set up a cutting edge prototype in-car spray booth to paint the oil pan and timing cover.

Some more stuff got crossed off the list also, some of it we have, and some of it we aren't doing (yet)

This permatex gasket remover is crazy, cleaned the carbon and miscellaneous crap off the gasket surfaces and pistons pretty well.

Somebody (Mike) lost the pin for the engine stand so we had to improvise.

So we weren't planning on working on the car tonight, but about halfway through the day I got the itch. So I headed over to the shop solo after work and got cracking.

My first job was to get the heads on. No big, all new bolts and a torque wrench, done right and right quick.

Then it was time to prep the engine for paint. I masked it and got all the debris off by hand with a wire brush.

Put the valve covers on for extra overspray protection.

Then I painted. The block is a natural iron paint while the timing cover and pan are GM corporate blue. The valve covers will be painted the same.

More to come tomorrow, probably paint the v/c and get the a Edelbrock intake on.

Cheers!

Got some more done on the 4.3 tonight.

Got the pushrods and lifters cleaned up

Mike lubed up the lifters and lifter bores with some fresh Motorcraft 5W30

I got the valve covers painted and the exhaust manifolds half ass clean, just running stock manifolds at least for now since we have them.

And all this stuff has to find its way on, probably tomorrow.
