I just got my truck running again after it had been in storage for 7 years. In the next few weeks I am planning on installing a set of Bushwacker cutouts for it that I bought about 10 years ago. They have been in the boxes in my crawlspace and it tuns out some mice got to the instructions before I did! Arrrrrrggggg!!!! At least they did not eat up the plastic parts or the seal gasket.

If anyone has any links, pics or insights for installing these on a generation 1that they can share with me It would be greatly appriciated!

I already found the link to the instructions from Bushwacker.
I will try to do a build with pictures on this if anyone is interested too.

Thanks!

Mike

Is it a sin to do cutouts when there is no rust on it?
A guy I work with just said it was.

I just installed them on my truck tonight. If I had seen this first I would have taken pics while installing. I did learn a couple of things. Go buy a longer drill bit than the 9/64 bit included. It's VERY difficult to drill the holes without the drill damaging the flares with the short bit. I cut my fenders with a 4 1/2" angle grinder with a cutting wheel (it worked well). They forgot to include the 2 patches for adjusting the wheel well (those are now on the way).

Stock wheels look REALLY funny underneath these flares...they are huge. My aftermarket wheels and tires are on the way.

Post a picture! I would like to see the final. Thanks for the insight on the longer drill bit.

I have been reading :c-n: the instructions I downloaded from thier site. Prety intense! Do you think I would have enough controll with a recipricating saw? I like the die grinder idea to cut the fenders. I am not a body man but I do feel like I can handle a grinder better than a saw. Im going to start laying things out in the garage this Saturday.

The wife is going to be pissed :pissedoff: when I tell her she's got to park hers in the driveway for the next few.

I will take a picture at lunch today. My wife was not happy about losing the garage either. I think a sawsall would work ok too. It's just easier to start a cut in the middle with a grinder. Remember that if your cut is not perfect it's ok as no one will ever see it. Make sure to paint the new exposed metal. I found black brush on rustoleum at home depot (cheap).

those flares are definetly meant to be installed on a LIFTED ranger with 33" + tires lol...looks goofy on a stock ranger, they sell more mild fender flares as well that arent so huge!
