Your OEM air filter is the same one used in the 3.0L and 4.0L engines. So, it's WAY oversized for your 2.3L, don't waste your money on aftermarket air filters/intakes.

The only positive to a cone type filter is reusability, but I've found it takes longer to clean them than just swap out for a new stock one... I can spend the $5 bucks on a stock replacement filter that will save me a half hour worth of work...

the reason i was thinking a cone filter is because i seen one on car domain and it was a 2.3l and he said it helped with the up hills so thats why.

Well any brand would do, your only worried about the diameter to the MAF. that cone filter will make you happy at first, feel faster and stronger, but i feel like i burned more gas opening the throttle....I personally prefer the cones but i think its mostly for show. i never did a dyno so i not saying it def adds hp. lol

I plan on buying a k&n next trip to autozone. I want the sound lol I know its dumb but its my money. My buddy put a complete cold air kit on his and he said it made a little difference but not worth the $300. Im just going to make my own adaptor to put on the MAF

Just use a paper filter and be done with it. If you replace the filter every 30,000 miles at $12 each at 150,000 that is only $60 and that is what a K&N costs up front plus the K&N cleaner spray and K&N oil to prep them.
The oil can really foul up the MAF sensor plus the K&N filters don't filter nearly as well as the better paper filters meaning more small particles entering the engine.
What do you gain HP wise.......insignificant. It does allow more sound to be heard from the intake, big deal.
Why Ford winds the A/C suction line hose around the top of the filter box is a mystery to me.....just makes it more of a PIA to change the filter.
