Did I just cut the wrong harness for my swap?

Hey all, I am in the midst of my own swap. I'm using a complete 2000 monty as a 5.0 donor for my 2001 edge. I've got the 3.0 out and the 5.0 prepped so I am looking pulling the 5.0 tomorrow hopefully if the sun is still out. My question is about the battery side harness. If I am understanding the "2001 ranger 5.0 Wiring Guide" write up correctly, I am supposed to use the PCM side engine harness as well as the battery side and just follow the steps that are listed.. Is that correct, just plug in the 42 pin harness as is and follow the steps covering the tach, PATS and the VSS?

I ask because I initially cut the 42 pin (male) connector from the 5.0 battery side of the harness thinking that I needed to extend the 3.0 battery side harness instead. Just saying that makes my head hurt. Half of me thinks I just sabotaged a relatively simple swap and the other thinks I am just being paranoid. Anyhow, that is where I am at now with the wiring and I am confused. I thought the 3.0 battery side harness connected up to everything and all I had to do was just extend the starter wire. I was just going to extend the male side of the 42 pin connector because I don't mind soldering.

I can go pull another 2000 5.0 battery side wire harness from the junkyard if needed but I have been trying to see if I am on the right track and most of the info I am seeing doesn't address this for the 2001 ranger. All I'm able to find is the write up and a bunch of other articles talking about doing what I've done, but for the 2000 ranger, not the 2001. Sucks being so close to having this long anticipated swap done and being hung up on something as simple as this. I do have the complete 3.0 harness as well as the complete 5.0 PCM engine harness behind the female connector.

Am I okay here or have I created a problem?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks for reading

I was hoping someone would say that it's a simple extension of the 3.0 harness after extending the starter wire.. or something like that. I read so much info that I think I have gotten it a little jumbled up. Maybe since it is Monday (bleh), someone will chime in.

Cheers

Okay, so I have been researching left and right and I am beginning to think that I may not have messed things up like I thought. I am reading that I need to combine the battery harnesses of the 3.0 and the 5.0, but I'm not able to find info on which parts..

I promise I won't cry if somebody chimes in here..

..so.. ..lonely
