So I bought my '90 Ranger about 4-5 years ago as a little project vehicle. And I've been tinkering with the interior for the longest time and I've always been used to my dimmer switch being a little wonky. The headlight aspect of it worked just fine, but the dashboard never dimmed when I turned the knob to the right. Couple days ago, I went to a junkyard and snagged a dimmer switch of an '89 and installed it, thinking it was just the dimmer switch. I got home and installed it and now my truck has daytime running lights, which wasn't functional with the old switch. But something else that struck me as odd was the dashboard and the interior light could dim and the door chime would get quieter and eventually turn off, but only if the truck was off and I pulled the headlight switch back 1 click to the parking light position, and when I turned the key, only the daytime running lights would dim. Could this be a wiring issue from the switch to the instrument panel or something?
