I'm buying a new head unit for my truck and putting my amps and subs in it soon, while buying the head unit I noticed that crutchfield seems to think that my truck has a factory amp. Right now it has the factory double din radio in it that has the auto set button on it. I looked for an amp, basically just looked under both seats since that's where they usually are, and didnt find one. Where is this amp if I have one? I honestly hope it doesn't have one because I don't want to have to wire each speaker to the new head unit.

I didnt think mine did since it just had an AM/FM casette player but when i went to wire mine up i found out that it hathe premium wiring in it. I got the correct harness and couldnt figure out why i couldnt get any sound. It turns out that i do have an amp and all you have to do is hook up the blue wire with the white stripe on it. Works perfect now. I asked a similar question a few days ago, lol

If you have the auto set button, you have "premium sound", and have a factory amp. In my supercab it's below the passenger side rear window and is a real bitch to get to. Not sure of the exact location if you have a regular cab but I'm betting it's in the same corner of the cab somewhere. Sorry if this is bad news.

My truck is a supercab. Crutchfield is including the wire harness for these trucks with the factory amp. I always order my stereo equipment from crutchfield since the shipping and installation parts are always free. I've check other sites for the same units and they may have lower prices but the install gear would end up making it cost more. Crutchfield is hard to beat.
